Hello fellow book bloggers! I wanted to do sort of an introduction post (even though I already did a first post) and I thought the perfect way to do that was through a Newbie Tag! I've seen it all over YouTube for BookTube Newbies, but because I am not brave enough for that life, I decided to stick with Instagram and a blog. I found this tag posted by Emily from The Bookish Lounge blog. So, here we go!
Why did you start this blog?
As mentioned above, I started this journey wanting to start a BookTube channel. I spent weeks trying to get up the courage to film myself. Then it was daunting to try to learn how to edit videos and how to make sure everything was semi-perfect.
Basically, though, I wanted a place where I could talk about books and I wanted to meet other people who like to talk about books too.
2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
Honestly, I don't really know about anything unique - I just wanted to join the community and meet new people.
I've been a part of Bookstagram for a little over a year now, and I mostly see accounts all about fantasy novels. I am more interested in mystery/thriller novels and will probably be talking about that more often than not.
3. What are you most excited for about this new blog?
I'm excited to grow and get out of my comfort zone - which I've already started to do a teensy bit. I also love connecting with people, finding new books to read and talk about, and learning new ways to market.
4. Why do you love reading?
Reading has always been a big part of my life; it takes me into different worlds, on different adventures. I love getting to know a new character, or re-visiting an old character over and over again.
5. What book or series got you into reading?
Harry Potter definitely brought me into a bigger, better world of books and reading. But before I really started getting into them (at 10 years old), I was reading The Magic Tree House books, The Castle in the Attic, Nancy Drew, and RL Stine. I was obsessed with Goosebumps, The Nightmare Room, and even a few of the "adult" books Stine had at that time.
I also started reading The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot at a young age. I can't remember exactly when, but I know I was in middle school, and Meg quickly became one of my favorite authors of all time.
When I was really little, my dad and I had a favorite book that we read together called "Underwear" by Mary Elise Monsall.
As I got a little older and got into different stories, my mom and I would read books about our favorite holidays together, like Halloween and Christmas.
6. What questions would you ask your favorite authors?
As I was growing up, all I wanted to be was an author. I loved making up stories and learning about all of the different writing styles and genres. Before self-publishing was a popular thing and an actual choice, I constantly wondered how to get to a level where I could be a published author.
Mostly silly questions, though, like "Where do you get your ideas from?" and "How did you break into the writing world so successfully?"
7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
I am such an introverted, shy person, so I think my biggest obstacle will be breaking out of my shell, making more connections, and stepping out of my comfort zone even more.
8. When did you start reading?
I've been reading for as long as I can remember - Kindergarten? I remember reading at recess quite a bit, and getting caught with a book underneath my desk in school.
9. Where do you read?
When it feels nice outside, I like to read there. If it's too hot, though, I'll pile up in bed or in my "big butt chair" in my living room.
10. What kind of books do you read?
I am a definite murderino and have a strange love for true crime, murder mysteries, and creepy thrillers. Recently, I've been getting more and more into fantasy novels and it's definitely opened up a brand new world of reading for me. I like chick-lit and teen romance novels. It really just depends on my mood and what I need at that certain point in my life.

As I said before, I'd like to continue with this trend of different bookish tags I see on Booktube or Bookstagram.
